Language Crosses Borders | Days of African Literatures 2024

Published April 22nd, 2024 Event

Friday, June 14, to Saturday, June 15, 2024 | Graz, Austria

***

We’re excited to collaborate with the cultural association Chiala for the 4th edition of the Days of African Literatures festival, taking place in Graz. This year, the festival’s motto is yet again “Language Crosses Borders,” as the festival is concerned with the tensions between languages and borders, especially with the border-crossing power of languages and literatures. A particular focus rests on the interplay between languages and borders in translations of African writers.

Tint Journal’s prose and In Conversation editor Andrea Färber will moderate the reading with Ida Hadjivayanis and Julia Kölbl on the first festival day at the main festival location KULTUM, Mariahilferplatz 3, 8020 Graz.

On the second day, Ida Hadjivayanis will hold the translation workshop “Traveling without Visas: Translators and Interpreters as Intercultural Diplomats” at our literary office BLÄTTERN, Gartengasse 28, 8010 Graz. Please register for the workshop at kultur@chiala.at (cover: pay as you wish).
