Q&A

What was your favorite book as a child?

The Thief of Always by Clive Barker. Gave me the existential spooks.

Do you remember the original reason or motivation why you started writing creatively?

I loved words. I loved to play pretend, particularly with emotions. I loved navigating through a controlled kind of panic. I loved feeling like I was all there is. And even as a kid, I was pretty preoccupied with the fear of death, and I thought if I ever get it right, even just for once, the world wouldn’t have to end.

What was the most adventurous or thrilling thing you ever did/experienced?

The stage.

Do you listen to music while reading or writing?

Not really, no. I have a habit of reading out what I have on the page so far to actually move forward most of the time. Music can get messy.
